How to Make Time for You (With Kids!)

As moms we often receive well-intended advice to practice self care and ensure that we have a life beyond our kids but in reality, this is way easier said than done! Carving out time on the weekend, let alone an hour a day, seems impossible while balancing work, meals, kids’ activities, household chores…(insert never ending list here). Just like any intentional practice, it takes repetition, support, and an open mind to start prioritizing your needs and wellbeing. Part of this process is also learning how to manage any guilt that creeps up when so many factors are competing for your time and energy. After all, how do you hit the mountains…

Momsolation. You May Be Lonely, But You’re Not Alone. Calling all #RadMums…

Being a new mother,  I never realized the culture that existed regarding the isolation a lot of moms feel. Even ones that used to be outdoorsy and active can feel overwhelmed with loneliness once the first months of excitement of a new baby die down. WHAT IS THIS MOMSOLATION? Well it comes from trying to take a few months to get in the swing of things with your baby and kids, declining invitations to go out and do things with friends because it’s either not baby friendly, too late, or you’re afraid of dealing with a screaming child in public and embarrassing others, including yourself. This leads to you making daily…

Strive for 5 – Wrap Up!

After 5 months of great hiking, the Strive for 5 Summer Hiking Challenge finally came to an end on September 30 with a trip to Rummel Lake. Teamed up with Alberta Adventure Girls, the hike was a day to remember with gorgeous weather, great company, and stunning scenery as the larches had turned gold. The purpose of the challenge was to get out and hike five (5) times while breaking down barriers that often keep moms from venturing outdoors. Through organized group hikes and solo pursuits, the Strive for 5 created a community of like-minded women to help fuel one another’s motivation, gain confidence, and form friendships. Members connected for trail…

    RadMums Climbing Club!

Gotta’ get up to get down with the RadMums! On June 26, we kicked off the weekly indoor RadMums Rock Climbing Club. With over 30 ladies in attendance, our group completely took over the Calgary Climbing Centre Hanger near the airport. Women of all ages and abilities took to the walls. Many participated in the private beginner course while others got their groove back and refreshed their skills with a belay test. Experienced climbers helped teach, encourage, and support throughout the evening while also giving the ladies something to look up to (literally!) They showcased their lead climbing skills and even did a few overhangs! Sure, there were a few…
